My Personal Perspective on the Gains and Losses that Come with Embracing the Journey of Walking with God

When I first began walking with God, I had no idea the impact it would have on my relationships. It was a transformative experience that brought me closer to God, but it also caused some people in my life to distance themselves from me. It was a difficult realization to accept, but I quickly realized that it was an unavoidable part of my spiritual journey.

As I embraced my newfound faith, I noticed a shift in the dynamics of my relationships. Friends and even family members began to drift apart, unable to understand or agree with my spiritual path. It was disheartening to witness the disconnect, but I knew that I had to remain true to myself and the calling I felt deep within.

Losing friends and family can be a difficult and lonely experience. We naturally crave connection and support from loved ones, and it can be difficult to let go of those who are no longer with us. However, during this process, I learned that it is critical to trust in God's plan and have faith that new relationships will blossom in due time.

One of the most reassuring aspects of my journey was realizing that, while I may have lost some relationships, I gained far more through my relationship with Christ. In my moments of solitude and introspection, I found comfort and strength in God's love and guidance. The void left by departed friends and family was gradually filled with a profound sense of fulfillment and purpose.

During this transition, it's important to remember that we're never truly alone. As my faith grew, I began to attract others who followed a similar spiritual path. These newfound companions, fellow travelers in the kingdom of God, became my support system, cheering me on and encouraging me to stand firm in my beliefs.

While walking with God may result in loss, it eventually leads to a gain that is greater than any earthly connection. The bonds formed within the kingdom of God are based on a common faith and purpose, resulting in a unique sense of belonging and unity. The love and acceptance discovered in these new relationships provide a profound source of strength and encouragement for our spiritual journey.

Letting go is difficult, and it’s okay to grieve the loss of those relationships. But remember, this isn't the end of your social life.  When you receive Christ, you gain a whole new family – a vast and supportive network of believers in the kingdom of God. These are people who share your values, understand your journey, and will walk alongside you in faith.

In order to cross this transitional bridge strong, focus on the gain, not the loss. You've gained a relationship with God, a source of love, strength, and guidance that will never leave you. The Bible reminds us in Deuteronomy 31:8 that  “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Get out there and find your new family. Churches, bible study groups, and faith-based activities are excellent places to meet like-minded people. Here, you'll find a vast and supportive network of believers in the kingdom of God—people who share your values, understand your journey, and will walk alongside you in faith. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:24 that “One who has many friends may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."

Never forget that true friends are loyal. Genuine friendships can withstand change and development. People who truly care about you will respect your faith, even if they don't share it. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 encourages us to “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Who knows? You could be the light that shines God's grace on those past relationships. God may be calling you to faith in order to bring others along with you.  Your journey with God can inspire others, and your newly discovered faith can be a bridge to reconnect with loved ones on a deeper level.

Walking with God is a wonderful experience, but it is not always easy. Accept the challenges, keep your faith, and remember that you're discovering a whole new world of love and support in the process. You might even find yourself serving as a beacon of faith for those around you.

So, to anyone who embarks on this path, be prepared for the challenges that may arise. Embrace the loss with a resilient heart, knowing that you are gaining so much more in return. Trust in God's plan and have faith that those who are meant to walk with you will come into your life at the right time.

Remember, the journey of walking with God is a personal one, and it may not always align with the expectations and understandings of others. But in letting go of what no longer serves us, we open ourselves up to the abundant blessings and new connections that await us in the kingdom of God.

May God's love and grace cover you on this journey,

Rumishael
